21 Dec 2008 : Swale end the year with a fine victory against local rivals Woodstock Park FC........
Swale end the year with a fine victory against local rivals Woodstock Park FC........Swale United FC end the year with a fine victory against 2nd place Woodstock Park. The game was one to remember for all those who attended the match, we asked First Team manager Kevin Hake's opinion on yesterdays game:

"We finally got what we deserved from a game today and both Smithy and I are so proud of what the boys achieved in getting the 3points. The game itself was just brilliant with the lads working their socks off for each other and showing tremendous heart and spirit to drag themselves back into this game despite being 2-0 down with only 30mins left on the clock."

"I want to thank every single person involved in yesterdays game and the festivities that took place afterwards. If any of the lads who were out on the "£10 Xmas clothes club" yesterday have any photos on their phones please send them over to me so that I can get them posted on this web site."

"Merry Christams to all the players along with your family and friends and see you all in a couple of weeks for the start of 2009 promotion campaign."

Thanks Kevin and well done again for yesterdays tremendous result. Swale United's next game is away to top of the table Premier FC kick off at 2pm.

01 Dec 2008 : Swale defeated again with lady luck certainly not on their side
Swale suffered their 2nd home defeat of the season to Bredhurst Juniors and all those watching were amazed at how they were beaten 3-1!

A very upset Kevin Hake had the following to say:

"The penalty decision changed the course of the game, their was only one team in the game up until then. I just cannot believe we have lost that game having played really well."

"I too am gutted in the manner we lost the goals however we need to be more resolute at the back and if we had we would have got a point from the game despite missing SO MANY oppurtunities. Massive positives for me today were Steve in goal and the brilliant midfield dynamo perfomance of the youngster James Mullins."

"I believe that we will click very soon and start finishing these oppurtunities we are creating and when we do we will smash a team. I just hope this happens sooner rather than later, at training we will be working on lots of things that did not work today. Above all though the lads need to stay positive as results will go our way."

Thanks Kev

26 Oct 2008 : Swale United suffer their first home league defeat against local rivals Borden
Swale United suffer their first home league defeat against local rivals BordenSwale United lose 2-1 to local rivals Borden Village in the first derby game of the season.

Swale United never really got into their stride on Saturday and it was no surprise that Borden lead going into the half time break. Borden's goal came after a defensive error from a set piece which was not dealt with. Swale enjoyed a good 20 minute spell which lead to them equalising through Andy Mannering with his first of the season. Andy Mannering nearly got his second from a header but a Borden defender cleared off the line. Borden then enjoyed a good spell with Sam Dale making a string of fine saves. With minutes remaining after a scrabble in the box Mark Barker hit the winner from close range for Borden.

We caught up with First Team Manager who had the following to say about the game.

"Too many players had off days for us today and we got what we deserved. On reflection a draw probably would have been a fair result but the game had a feeling of inevitability about it and the game was destined for a late winner.Unfortunately it did not fall to us and credit to Borden persistence which resulted in Barksy's scoring the winner.

We have not become a bad team overnight and overall I am pleased with our start to the season. We have to keep our minds on the job in hand and take each game as it comes. We have tough fixtures ahead which find us playing the top 3 teams in out next 3 league games. These games really will seperate the men from the boys and will determine how serious our promotion campaign is."

As always we thank Kevin for his comments and wish him and his team all the best in their away trip Saturday to league leaders Premier FC.

18 Oct 2008 : Swale proceed in the Les Leckie cup with superb victory
Swale proceed in the Les Leckie cup with superb victorySwale United made amends for the league defeat against Larkfield and New Hythe Wanderers with a brilliant victory in the Les Leckie Cup!

We caught a quick word with Assistant Manager Matt Smith late last night, who had the following to say:

"The team was completely changed from last week and in the face of adversity the boys showed Kevin what fantastic fighting spirit and heart they have. Whilst this is only a cup game we were more happy with the things learnt today about the team as a whole rather than the overall result."

"Kevin is over the moon and we now cannot wait to get the boys in training on Wednesday and start our preparations for the all important league game at home against local rivals Borden Village FC. "

Thanks for talking to us Matt and good luck next weekend at home against both yours and Kevins old team Borden Village FC kick off at 2.45pm.

COME ON UNITED..................

05 Oct 2008 : Swale United suffer their first league defeat of the season against an experienced Larkfield side
Swale United suffer their first league defeat of the season against an experienced Larkfield sideSwale United FC tasted defeat for the first time this Saturday against an experienced Larkfield and New Hythe Wanderers team.

Swale will feel extremely hard done by to eventually lose the game 4-0 but the outcome was a fair reflection of the performance. We caught up with manager Kevin Hake who had the following comments about the game

"I am bitterly dissappointed in losing the game but the better team won on the day. We did not get the rub of the green but this happens in football and they are a well organised side and if they can keep that team there every week they will be challenging for the title."

"With that said too many of our players had an off day and only they can answer why that was. On a positive note it was good to see that Carl White integrated well into the side and Paul Rooke completed his first 45 minutes after returning from a long term injury. To be fair the results have gone for us so we are still in the leading pack. We will be back to nearly full strength next week and have a welcomed rest from the league with 2 Cup games".

We thank Kevin as ever for his comments and wish him and his team all the best in the Cup match against FC Cobras at home this Saturday 2.15pm kick off.

Come on United........

30 Sep 2008 : Swale United player undergoes knee operation on Wednesday 1st October.................
Swale United player undergoes knee operation on Wednesday 1st October.................Swale United would like to wish Steve Hake a speedy recovery from his knee operation which was carried out on Wednesday 1st October. Steve sustained the injury last season playing for Borden Village FC and has remained on the sidelines ever since.

Unfortunately during the operation it was found that the knee was injured far worse than previously thought and Steve has had major works carried out on his cruciate ligament. This means that Steve will be out for considerably longer than we all had hoped.

Thank you to all the well wishers and we hope to see Steve in a Swale Utd shirt in the not so distant future.

24 Jul 2008 : Our 1st interview with First Team manager Kevin Hake.......................
Our 1st interview with First Team manager Kevin Hake.......................Pre-Season has been going on for 3 weeks now and we thought it about time we caught up with First Team Manager Kevin Hake.

My first question to Kevin was,how do you feel your Pre-season has gone so far ?

"I am extremely happy with how our training has gone so far.All the existing and new players alike have integrated well and there are early signs of a good team spirit building. I am lucky that all the existing players from last season have been retained and they have welcomed the new training ideas and ethics that have been introduced. The lads have worked hard and this will tell come the start of the season."

So you have been putting them through their paces then ? ?

Yes, we have done but I feel not matter how much ability you have it is necessary to be fit. To be honest the lads have lapped it up(pardon the pun !!)and we have had to cut some training games short as they have been asking for more. It has been great for me to have both Kenny Allen and Matt Smith on the Management team. They have been great for the club and are just as important than some of the signings that have been made."

On the subject of players signatures, who has signed for the club in the last few weeks ? ?

"The level of committment shown by the players has been great and match the desire of the management team. This said every player that has been training has signed. This is great for the club as you usually get the 'touting' of players at this time of the season which simply has not been the case with us. I think everyone is genuinely excited with what the club has to offer and it is a privelige to be involved as manager."

You have selected some interesting Pre-season fixtures ?

"Everthing is geared up for the team to be fully prepared for the start of the season. We have selected teams from the Kent League and above to provide a strong test. They are a month ahead of ourselves in their preperations as their leagues start at the beginning of August. I understand that we are probably not playing against all their first XI, but the managers have promised to send down strong squads. This will test our guys as they will be playing against a lot of youngsters and fringe first teamers. This league is going to be tough with the usual suspects and some interesting additions and I want to make sure we have done everthing right off the field to give the playing team the maximum chance on it. That is why we have selected week on week fixtures so the lads get used to training and playing together regularly."

We would like to thank Kevin for his time and wish him and the lads all the best for the season.

COME ON UNITED !!!

16 Jul 2008 : An interview with Matt Smith ASSISTANT MANAGER....
An interview with Matt Smith ASSISTANT MANAGER....Following the successful start to pre-season training, we caught up with Assistant Manager Matt Smith and asked him how preparations are progressing for the season ahead?

"The lads returned to pre-season training relatively fit however the training is going extremely well with some big name players really committing to the pre-season programme as a whole. The spirit within the camp is superb and it is great to be involved on a management side with some old faces from the past and the new players inherited from UK Paper FC.
The standard of players we have seen at training is very high and both Kevin and I has some big decisions to make in the forthcoming weeks with competition for places all over the field."

We asked Matt if he felt that the club has actually changed at all from its UK Paper days?

"With respect to the football club last year they were struggling, we have invested huge amounts of time and effort into promoting a team work ethic both on and off the field. Both Kevin and I have secured lucrative sponsorship deals which have allowed the football club to abort weekly subs and ask the players for just a one off signing on fee, provide the website and secure the facilities at UK Paper Sports Ground for the forthcoming season. I believe the players can see what is happening off the field and are committing their time and effort to the pre-season training programme."

"I would like to say a big thank you to Kevin (Hake) for getting me involved with the football club as assistant manager and hope to repay his faith bestowed in me. Both Kevin and I also wish to say a big thank you to Kenny (Allen) for all his help and efforts on the training ground during the pre-season programme. I personally cannot wait for our first pre-season friendly just to see how far we have come as a squad."

Thanks for talking to us Matt and best wishes for the season, lets make it as successful on the field as things are off it!!!
Matt did ask us to remind all players and supporters that the football clubs innagrual JOLLY BOYS OUTING is taking place on 9 August and the coach is filling up fast so secure your seat on the coach ASAP by speaking to either Kevin, Matt or Andy Mannering.
COME ON UNITED!!!
