Club Chairman Matt Smith announces shock resignation but vows to help club push for promotion...............The football club is sad to announce that Club Chairman Matt Smith has resigned his position at the football club but he has vowed to help both sides push for promotion as much as pratically possible. Tom Hake has been appointed Chairman in the interim period.

We spoke with a despondent Matt Smith who had the following to say:

"I am gutted that I am having to resign my position but unfortunately I cannot commit myself fully to the football club and I will only ever do something 100%, 75% is not good enough and it is also not fair on Martin, Kevin's, Aaron & Tony."

"The current ecconomic climate is such that I am needed to dedicate far more time to my business and thus do not have the spare time avaliable for Swale Utd FC."

"I know both teams will be amongst the promotion places come the end of season and I wish the entire club management and players both a happy and prosperous new year and all the best for 2010. Thanks to everyone for the past 18months it has been great."

"I am also pleased to announce that Tom Hake shall be re-appointed Chairman during the interim period as of 1 January 2010 and we all wish Tom the best during this tiime."

Thanks Matt, and we wish Tom all the best in his second stint as Club Chairman of the football club.

Swale looking for progression in cup game against higher league opposition...............................Swale United FC First XI entertain Division 1 East high flyers Sheerness East FC in the Les Leckie Cup this forthcoming weekend. Swale will be looking to follow on from there fine perfomance against Hawkenbury FC. We spoke with First Team manager Kevin Hake about the game:

"I think there is a real good buzz about the place at the moment and having watched the Reserves on Saturday my team selection for this Saturdays game shall be very tough. We have a very good squad and shall be looking to strengthen this in anyway we can over the coming weeks."

"I have seen Sheerness East's recent results and they were unbeaten from October until narrowly beeing defeated by a strong Premier FC team. We will not be under estimating the task in hand but I am fully aware this is only a cup competition and our sights are firmly set on promotion from the league and the cup is a nice side line."

"In terms of players this coming weekend I shall be looking to rest a few of the first teamers in preparation for our away league game against Malgo FC on 12 December 2009. I am confident in the lads that we can call upon to do a job."

Thanks Kevin and good luck this Saturday, for those wishing to attend the game kick off is at 1.45pm.

First Team game called off but Reserves put in fine team display...................Swale United FC's first team game against Hamstreet FC was cancelled this weekend however Aaron Hodge's Reserve team won again in the league here at Gore Court.

We grabbed Reserve Team manager Aaron Hodges for a brief word after the final whistle:

"The lads have played really well today and some of the football played today was exceptional in spells. I know Hakey and Kev Little was pleased with what they saw and that can only bode well for the players in the Reserves at present."

"We now have a run of 3 cup games in December and we will be able to pit our wits against higher league opposition and hopefully progress well in all of the cups."

21 Nov 2009 : Reserve Team Manager scores the winner..................................
Reserve Team Manager scores the winner..................................Swale United FC Reserve XI proceed in the Cup following Aaron Hodges late winner. We grabbed a quick word with Reserve Team Assistant Manager Tony Lewis following his side's progress in the Cup:

"With ten minutes to go it looked as though we were heading for extra time, so Aaron and I decided to try one last throw of the dice and it paid off with Aaron scoring the winner with 8minutes to go!! To be fair had it not been for a superb save on 89minutes from Luke Titshall in goal we would have gone to extra time."

"Aaron and I are just so pleased with the way things are going and it is the first time I have known a Reserve and First team so united! At every other club I have been at there was always problems with players not playing for certain teams, here at Swale that simply does not happen."

"Lee Peters had been playing superbly in the reserves for the past couple of weeks hence he got his chance with the First team today, the same can be said for Kemo (Martin Kemsley). Going the other way the dropped players atitude is superb and they know if they perform well here in the Reserves they will get their chance back in the First XI again."

Thanks for talking to us and good luck next week in the league.
