Match Report - 08 Aug 2009, Swale United Football Club First XI drew with Oakwood Park XI FC
Swale come back from three behind to record a hard fought well deserved draw against their higher league Maidstone opponents Oakwood Park FC from Division 1 East.
After the game we grabbed a word with Assistant Manager Kevin Little:
"I think the boys fought back well but we nearly threw the game away in the last 5mins and had it not been for a superb finish from Ashley Baverstock we would have lost the game. Again the defending was not the best but at this stage of pre-season Kev is still trying things out and the change's we made at half time sured things up."
"Overall we are both very happy with the perfomance and again we created lots of chances but only converted 4, to be honest after 65mins we should have been 6-3 up but instead it was still 3-0 to them! We were over the moon with the spirit the lads showed and to get the game back to 3-3 was testament to their fitness and never say die attitude."
"Kev and I are looking forward to training on Tuesday and working on items of the game that did not work, I am now looking forward to seeing what the players in the reserve team have to offer."
Thanks Kevin and we echo your comments regarding the finishing and defending however the comeback was brilliant and the entire team showed their superior fitness. Just to remind all involved with the club we have a 2nd Friendly at the David Beckham Academy kick off at 6.30pm.
COME ON UNITED.....................
