Match Report - 15 Aug 2009, Swale United Football Club First XI beat Fleetdown United XI FC

Swale United avenge last nights poor performance with fine victory against Division 2 West side Fleetdown FC.

Swale began to get in the game and on 22mins new signing Danny Grant made a superb run down the right and produced a sublime cross which both strikers failed to convert. Swale defended brilliantly and reduced the visitors to only long range efforts from outside the area againt the Trialist goalkeeper. The teams went in at half time 0 - 0 but Swale had the better of the oppurtunities.

The sittingbourne side came out for the second half with real vigour and it was another fine run from Danny Grant which gave him his first goal for the club on 68mins. Swale went from strength to strength having broke the deadlock and Danny Grant again produced a superb cross which the Fleetdown defender turned into his own net on 73mins. Fleetdown did not give up and continued to press for a goal to get back into the game however with Lee Peters and Andy Mannering marshalling the defence the visitors never really got a sight of goal.

Scott Forster completed the scoring on 85mins with a great finish following some fine work by Ashley Baverstock who again impressed despite not registering on the score sheet. After this convincing 3-0 victory we grabbed Kevin Hake First Team manager:

"I am over the moon not only for the result but the fact we kept a clean sheet against a very lively side. Danny and Scotty finished their oppurtunities superbly and going forward now we have lots of options open to ourselves."

"Iam not getting carried away as this is only pre-season however the reaction the lads gave me at half time was very pleasing. Kevin (Little) will be taking the side next week due to a pre-arranged appointment however I am confident that the side will go on from this result."

Thanks Kevin, just a reminder to all that the First Team and Reserves both kick off next weekend at home, yes thats right at home UK Leisure Club at 2.45pm. See you all there.

COME ON UNITED..........
