Match Report - 12 Sep 2009, Swale United Football Club First XI lost to Bredhurst Juniors FC

Swale have a poor day at the office as they are punished for some poor defending and finishing here at UKP Sports Ground against an experienced Bredhurst Juniors FC side.

Swale started the game at a fantastic pace and should have been 2 or 3 up by 20minutes, chances coming thick and fast during this period. The whole game changed on 26mins when in a breakaway move the Bedhurst striker managed to get a foot between two Swale defenders to put the visiting side 1-0 up. This seemed to breed confidence in the away side and with veteran Peter Overton running the midfield the sittingbourne side soon found themselves 2-0 down on 37mins. As the sides went off at half time the dissappoint could be seen on each and everyone of the home teams faces.

Swale failed to re-appear for the second half and found themselves 3-0 after on 5mins of the re-start following some extemely poor marking. The home side to their credit endeavoured to play their passing game but alas it was not to be there day when following another long ball from midfield the Bredhurst striker ran on to convert the chance passed a helpless Sam Dale. Sam Dale produced some fine saves in the Swale goal but unfortunately for him the team in front of him just seemed to switch off on occassions.

As the game ended we grabbed First Team Manager Kevin Hake:

"I am so angry with the way we lost today! They converted there chances well here today but I am livid with the way we let them off the hook with all the chances we created and failed to convert! Even with 10mins to go we had two fantastic oppurtunities to maybe get something out of the game or at least push them to the final whistle."

"As it was the game ended how it started with us attacking! We have not become a bad team in one game but we need to forget about this result and move on because we cannot play that badly again this season and expect to get promoted. I will go away tonight and think about what happened today and look forward to working with all the lads at training where Kev and I will be working on a few things."

Thanks Kevin and hopefully things be better next weekend in the away game at Chartham Sports FC.
