Match Report

Match Report - 07 Aug 2010, Swale United Football Club First Team beat Charlton Athletic Community FC

Swale run out winners despite only having 12 players to choose from and fielding the veteran goalkeeper Matt Smith. The home team were stretched to their limits with fielding 2No teams in the Woodstock 7 a side tournament plus this fixture.

We grabbed a word with Kevin Hake after the final whistle:

"I learnt alot about the players on show today, Charlton have brought some 18players down and were using role on role off substitutions yet my boys stood strong and ground out a result. The whole team was superb but I guess a special mention should go to ever green Matt Smith playing his first real game for 2years!!!"

"I hope this perfomance can be a spring board for our season ahead, a massive positive was the 12 lads getting a full 90mins and working very hard in this heat. I now have to plan for next Saturdays friendly against Forest Hill FC whom always provide us with a firm test."

Thanks Kevin and good luck on Saturday.
